Foreign Economic Cooperation of Shanghai in the First Half of This Year Grew Rapidly

In the first half of this year, foreign direct investment (FDI) of Shanghai grew rapidly, topping the list nationwide in “going abroad”. A total of 150 outward-FDI projects were approved, with total investment of USD1.708b, a year-on-year increase of 139%, and total overseas investment of state-owned enterprises accounted for more than half. In addition, the outward FDI projects showed diversification in terms of areas. In the first half of this year, FDI in Asia amounted to USD653m, accounting for 38%; FDI in Europe USD367m, accounting for 22%; FDI in Cayman Islands and other tax havens USD349m, accounting for 20%; and FDI in North America USD290m, accounting for 17%.
