Suzhou is flourishing with flowers in the early summer. The 2nd general meeting of 8th session of coated abrasives sub-association which lasted three days was held successfully in this beautifully city. The conference has made three breakthroughs. Firstly, the adtendee number was more than 200 for the first time. Secondly, overseas friends participated the meeting, they were Victor Goh and Andrea. Thirdly, attendees form superhard material industry took part in for the first time.

The general meeting opened on eight thirty o’clock of 28th May. The president-Hu Aili of white dove abrasives co., ltd made an opening speech.

Secretary General Wang Mingyuan reported 2009 work summary and 2010 work plan. Mr. Wang analyzed the industrial economy of 2009 elaborately. Total industrial output value came to 3.7 billion RMB, up 3.61% over the same period of last year. The sales revenue mounted to3.6 billion RMB, up 3.50%. The product output reached 0.34 billion square meters, down 0.81%. Export quantity and amount reached 40151 tons and 0.12 billion dollars, up 8.50% and2.24% respectively. Amount growth was less than quantity what showed average price dropped.

Mr. Wang said that seven major tasks must be carefully fulfilled about new year’s plan: industrial self-discipline must be handled well. Stimulate more industrial interaction. Create a favorable environment. Persist in technical innovation. Promote industrial upgrading and optimization. Do a good job of environmental protection. Establish expert technology committee and technology information committee. Make a good job of economic technical index statistics. Continue running “one magazine and one website”.

He fully affirmed that coated abrasives industry developed healthly and at the same time also pointed out problems existing in economic operation. Export situation is not so optimistic under the depressed international economy. Rising cost pressure of industry comes from the fluctiations in the price of raw material and transportation. Production over-capactiy still exists. Enterprises scales are small and scattered. Resource, energy and environment protection will hinder the development industry. Autonomous innovation ability of industry is poor. These questions should be paid more attention from industry.
