Both Scale and Efficiency of Foreign-Invested Enterprises of Wuhan Grew

Recently, the joint annual inspection on foreign-invested enterprises of Wuhan was successfully completed. In 2009, production and operation indicators of foreign-invested enterprises of Wuhan continued to increase steadily. The business revenues throughout the year amounted to RMB303.5b, a net increase of RMB49.8b from last year, up 19.63% year-on-year; total paid tax RMB23b, a net increase of RMB2.5b, up 12.2%; break-evenpoint profits of enterprises RMB21.5b, a net increase of RMB4.8b, up 28.74%; foreign exchange earned through export USD833m, up 1.05%; and the employed by the end of that year still reached 240,000. In terms of scale, there were 218 enterprises with business revenue of more than RMB100m, an increase of 34 ones from last year; and 34 ones with business revenues of more than RMB1b, an increase of 6 ones. With respect to efficiency, there were 147 enterprises with total paid tax of more than RMB10m, an increase of 21 ones; 178 ones with total profits of more than RMB10m, an increase of 24 ones; and 22 ones with foreign exchange earned by export of more than USD10m, one fewer than before.
