Matthews International buys granite supplier

Matthews International Corp. on Pittsburgh's North Side, said Monday it purchased United Memorial Products Inc. of Los Angeles, a leading supplier of granite memorial products, burial vaults and caskets in the West.
Matthews, which designs, manufacturers and markets products for the funeral industry, including bronze memorials and caskets, said that acquiring United Memorial Products adds granite offerings to the company's expertise in memorial products.
Matthews did not disclose how much spent on acquiring United Memorial Products, which sales of about $11 million last year.
"It allows us (Matthews) to increase our presence as a full-service memorial products supplier," Matthews CEO Joseph C. Bartolacci said in a statement.
Matthews International's two business segments -- memorialization and brand solutions -- generate about $700 million in annual revenues, more than double its revenue five years ago. The company has 3,800 employees in 13 countries
