In spite of the world economic crisis, Fagor Arrasate continues very active in the international markets.
The most important steel manufacturer in China, BAOSTEEL, has placed an order to Fagor for designing and supplying a cut-to-length line with roto-oscillating shear that will be installed in the north of the country. The new line will be able to process strips up to 1850 mm in width ad 2.5 mm in thickness at a speed of 90m/min. The maximum length of the blanks will be four meters. The roto-oscillating shear is one of the most successful products of Fagor Arrasate. It allows cutting rectangles, trapezoids, trianges, ribbed and curved blanks, etc with no necessity for a press and a big accumulating pit in the fpundation. That reduced enormously the investment and make the installation to be profitable from the first day. Mr. Victor Esteban and Mr. “Fran” Chi Feng negotiated the contract in tight competition against European and Japanese competitors.
