In 2009, China’s crude steel output amounted to 568 million tons, ranking the first across the globe, the Annual Report on Industrial Competitiveness of China (2010) issued by Chinese Academy of Social Science on August 22 in Beijing stated.
The Annual Report pointed out that in 2009, China’s crude steel output reached 568 million tons, 2.2 times the output of crude steel by Japan, Russia, the US and India with their rankings topping five places across the globe, which has further established the status of China as a steel power. In terms of international market share, the international market share of China’s iron and steel industry showed a momentum of growth, and particularly since 2004, such trend is more obvious to hit a new record high of 12.09% in 2008.
