Ministers of Tourism of China, Japan and South Korea Signs Low- Carbon Tourism Proposal

On August 23, Shao Qiwei, Chinese Minister of National Tourism Administration, Seiji Maehara, Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and Yu In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed the Low Carbon Travel Proposal in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, in order to promote the sustainable development of tourism.
It is reported that the low-carbon tourism was highlighted for the first time in the Fifth Trilateral Tourism Ministers’ Meeting, which was held in Zhejiang Province. To response the Copenhagen Agreement of United Nations on climate change and implement the Outlook for 2020, the Ministers from the three countries signed the Low-Carbon Tourism Proposal, to appeal the three countries to immediately take action, vigorously promote low-carbon tourism, arouse the environmental responsibility of tourism enterprises and visitors, reduce the carbon emissions during travel, reduce the side effects to climate and ecological environment, and protect the inhabited environment of all human beings.
