Deputy China International Trade Representative Chong Quan Met with Pakistani Ambassador to China

Chong Quan, the Deputy China International Trade Representative of MOFCOM, met with Masood Khan, the Pakistani Ambassador to China, and the two sides exchanged views on Pakistan’s flood relief aid and other issues.
Chong Quan said, the grave flood disaster in Northern Pakistan had caused large-scale casualties and property loss. To show friendly feeling of the Chinese government and people towards Pakistani government and people, the Chinese government has decided to provide anther batch of relief supplies worth of 60 million RMB, in addition to the emergency humanitarian assistance of 60 million RMB provided earlier.
According to Chong Quan, the relief supplies will be shipped soon, mainly including tents and other urgently needed goods. As for the necessities of life provided to thetrapped people in the Hunza Lake, due to the break-off in the road between Kashgar and Khunjerab, China will do quick repair and ship as soon as possible.
Masood Khan expressed, on behalf of the Pakistani government and people, his gratitude to the Chinese government and people. He pointed out that, the aid China provided to Pakistan is practical and quick, and the provided food, tents and medicine are all in dire need for Pakistan. China also helped Pakistan to establish precaution mechanism to prevent future disasters.
Chong Quan said, it’s hoped that China’s aid supplies could be of some use to Pakistan’s flood relief efforts. China and Pakistan are all-weather friends, and China would like to give as much help as possible within its power to Pakistan’s flood relief.
The two sides also exchanged views on bilateral trade and economic relations and economic cooperation planning.
