“The information industry of China is once again on the track of fast growth through more than one year’s efforts after experiencing a severe test imposed by the financial crisis in 2008.” Said Yang Xueshan, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) at the opening ceremony of China International Information Week (Guangzhou) 2010 held on August 26.
Based on the introduction of Yang, in the first half of the year, China had manufactured 370 million units of cellphones, 53 million units of TVs and more than 30 billion units of ICs. From January to June, the production value of the electronic information industry of China amounted to more than RMB280b, up 29.5% from the same period of 2009, and up 23.8% from the same period of 2008, which “indicates that China’s electronic information industry has really been on the track of fast growth”.
