Rockwell Diamonds Inc. diamond supplier says that five diamonds exceeding 50 carats have been recovered from the Holpan and Klipdam mines north of Kimberley, South Africa, and from the Saxendrift mine southwest of Kimberley. This brings the total number of diamonds weighing 50 carats or more recovered this fiscal year to 11.
The diamonds recovered include a 136-carat, clean white (graded H to I) diamond in a broken octahedral shape, from Holpan, a 69.26-carat blocky pinkish-brown stone from Klipdam, and : three large diamonds from Saxendrift weighing 58.20 carats, 81.29 carats and a 104.03 carat diamond.
Rockwell Diamonds company experts are engaged in cleaning and valuing the diamonds. The polished diamonds are expected to be sold into Rockwell's cooperative venture with Steinmetz Diamond Group.
President and CEO of Rockwell Diamonds John Bristow called the regular recovery of large diamonds of exceptional quality and size a "hall mark of Rockwell's unique diamond production."
Bristow notes that the Saxendrift mine has yielded seven out of the 11 diamonds weighing over 50 carats recovered this fiscal year.
