It was a fire-new technics for manufacturing grinding tools adopting photosensitive resin as bond material to make diamond thin wheel. In this paper, coated diamond grain was introduced into the grinding tools bonded with photosensitive resin for the first time through the study of bonding mechanism between diamond grain and photosensitive resin. The researchful results showed different coated diamonds could influence the tensile strength and the elastic modulus of the grinding tools remarkably. The results of cutting test showed the cutting efficiency and the working life of the grinding wheels was strengthened after using nickel-coated diamond grain in the grinding tools bonded with photosensitive resin. In the chapter 1, the significance and the contents of the paper was expounded on the basis of the synthetical discussion about the development history, present situation and the developing trend on the cutting technology on the typical hard-brittle material. In the chapter 2, the theoretic knowledge about the photosensitive resin and the grinding tools was firstly introduced. After discussing the bonding principle and the wearing principle of the grinding tools using photosensitive resin, the measures to diminish the wear of a photosensitive resin bond diamond wheel were brought forward. In the chapter 3, the project and process of test were referred. In the chapter 4, the tensile test was carried out. The results of tensile test showed the elastic modulus and tensile strength of the samples were improved and the cutting efficiency of the grinding wheels was strengthened. In all the tensile tests the break section of the test samples was analyzed under SEM.In the chapter 5, According to the recipe worked out the photosensitive resin bond blades were made out. It was verified through the cutting test that the nickel-plated diamond grains have an ability to increase the gripping strength of diamond grains and to decrease the normal grinding force compared to the conventional diamond grains. In the chapter 6, the main conclusions were gathered up, and the further work on the theory and the technology also prospected.
