Leaders of eight diamond bourses in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Korea, Singapore, and Thailand affiliated with the World Federation of Diamond Bourses are meeting in Bangkok for the 2010 WFDB Asia Summit.
The morning session featured a networking opportunity for the diamond bourse heads, while the afternoon was devoted to meetings with leaders of jewelry associations in Malaysia, Indonesia, and other Asian jewelry-producing nations.
WFDB President Avi Paz and WFDB Honorary presidents Shmuel Schnitzer and Ernest Blom are scheduled to lead a discussion of current affairs, as well as to help the summit participants identify and address policies intended to strengthen their bourses' positions in the global diamond trade.
Paz said he was greatly encouraged by the full turnout at this year's Bangkok summit. Noting that Asian member bourses comprised nearly a third of the WFDB membership and that those bourses were operating in the largest markets in the diamond industry, Paz stated that the WFDB was "committed to assisting these bourses – and their members – in their growth and expansion."
The 2010 WFDB-Asia Summit comes on the heels of the Bangkok Gem and Jewellery Fair, Asia's largest gem and jewelry event.
