The US Commerce Department made the final decision on Monday to impose anti-dumping and countervailing duties on seamless steel pipe imported from China, according to reports from theChina NewsAgency.
It (department) will charge anti-subsidy duties of between 13.66 and 53.65 percent on the imports, while setting antidumping duties that range from 48.99 to 98.74 percent.
But duties won't come into effect unless the independent International Trade Commission determines that US producers of the pipe are indeed being hurt by the imports, with a vote expected around October 25.
The US has been investigating nearly two dozen duty cases against China. But the Chinese side appeals for more communication for the sake of overcoming the aftermath of the financial crisis.
