AGS Expands Scope of Diamond Quality Analysis
The American Gem Society (AGS) Laboratories will now issue Diamond Quality Analysis (DQA) reports on diamonds with weights ranging from 0.18 to 1.99 carats, AGS announced last week. Thus far AGS has only issued reports on diamonds of up to .99 carats. In addition, AGS is also offering customers computer-generated diamond mapping of their stones, utilizing new technological developments in the diamond industry.
Texas Mold 'Em
A special gemstone exhibit from Texas Faceters' Guild is on display at Gems of the Hill Country, Mason Country News reported. The exhibition features replicas of famous diamonds recreated by guild members in cubic zirconia. The collection had its inception in 1990 and has since expanded to include 34 gems, including replicas of the Hope Diamond and the Cullinan diamonds belonging to the British crown jewels.
Teeth With Some Bling
Rapper Kayne West has removed his bottom teeth and replaced them with diamonds, the performer told the styleite.com fashion blog. West said the dental jewelry work had been completed by a dentist in Hawaii. The style blog opined that West had not had his teeth replaced with diamonds but had actually had a diamond grille implanted – a different procedure. No comment from West about the blog's interpretation of his million-carat smile was available.
