In August, Shanghai signed 313 contracts of foreign direct investment, equivalent to the same month of last year, with the contracted foreign direct investment of USD1.21b, up 14%; and the capital in place of USD951m, up 5.7%. In the month, foreign direct investment of the municipality presented the following three big features:

Firstly, the investment pattern is mainly wholly-invested one; secondly, investment in the tertiary industry accounted for nearly 90%; and thirdly, foreign investment in place realized positive growth for 8 consecutive months.
