The Rapaport Group's October Melee Auction, which opened in New York this week and is selling an unprecedented 62,400 carats of polished diamonds in 432 parcels, has been extended until Wednesday, October 20.
Sales at Rapaport's September 2010 Melee Auction totaled over $4.6 million, and 100% of the 39,790 carats of polished diamonds up for sale were purchased.
Meanwhile, the Group's Certified Diamond Auction – conducted online – has been rescheduled to take place from November 9-15, 2010. The change, according to news outlets, comes after diamond suppliers asked the Group to allow them to sell diamonds over the Diwali holiday.
Stones for sale at the Certified Diamond Auction will all be round, range in size from 0.50 carats to 10 carats, and carry GIA certification of Excellent to Very Good, D-K, IF-VS2.
