After being shown in Hong Kong and Shanghai, Rio Tinto's Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender is now on display in New York.
This year's Pink Diamonds Tender features 55 pink diamonds recovered from the diamond company's Argyle mine in Western Australia, the source of 90% of the world's red and pink colored diamonds.
The 2010 tender, titled Earth Magic, features a number of notable stones – such as the 2.02-carat Argyle Mystra, a round diamond with a color grade of Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink – as well as a tiara designed by the British jeweler Asprey and set with 178 Argyle pink diamonds.
Argyle Pink Diamonds Business Manager Josephine Archer called the tiara a "contemporary treasure that showcases beautifully the colors, sizes, and shapes of rare pink diamonds from the Argyle mine."
Prospective buyers have until October 26, 2010 to bid.
