De Beers Diamond Production up 15% in Q3

De Beers diamond production for the third quarter of 2010 was up 15% over the corresponding quarter last year, Anglo American – which owns 45% of De Beers – reports.
The diamond company's Q3 production stood at 9 million carats of rough diamonds, 15% more than in Q3 2009 and 7% more than in Q2 2010.
Diamond production for the first three quarters of 2010 totaled 24.4 million carats, 15.4 million of which were recovered in the first half. Sales by De Beers' Diamond Trading Company (DTC) comprised $2.6 billion, an average per-carat price of $169.
