The labor union of the Diamond Trading Co. of Botswana – a diamond company jointly owned by De Beers and the Botswana government – have ended a two-week strike, Bloomberg reports.
Talks over wage increases and allowances are expected to continue as the union employees resume their duties.
Botswana is one of the world's biggest diamond producers. In July, an official from the Botswana Department of Mines said that 2010 production could reach 24 million carats of diamonds, which would represent a 36% increase over diamond production in 2009.
