Granite sinks are beautiful and durable, but there is a right and wrong way to clean them. Follow these steps below and you will keep your granite sink looking like new for a long time to come.
To keep your granite sink clean, rinse it after each use and towel dry. The drying part is key - it prevents stains from mineral deposits. Keep an extra towel handy and make this a habit.
Step 2
To remove everyday stains from your granite sink, clean the surface with a soft sponge or cloth and dish washing liquid.
Step 3
More stubborn stains can be removed by scrubbing your granite sink with a mild abrasive pad (like you would use to do dishes) or any mild abrasive cleanser such as Ajax.
Step 4
If you have mineral deposits in your granite sink, remove them with a weak solution of vinegar and water. Follow up with a rinse.
Step 5
If a stain just won't budge because it has become ingrained in the bowl, mix a solution of 40 parts water with 1 part bleach and let stand in the bowl overnight. Then drain and rinse thoroughly with water.
This is only for extreme situations - do not do this regularly.
