In a bid to escalate the campaign against trade in conflict diamonds, the World Diamond Council (WDC) has launched a website which will serve as a resource on the subject for the diamond companies and diamond suppliers, diamondintelligence.com reported on Sunday.
The new website, http://www.worlddiamondcouncil.org, will replace a previous website that has been online for more than six years.
Besides providing information about the WDC and diamond trading, the new website will report on the campaign to curb trade in conflict diamonds, offering videos, photos and documents on the subject. News of the WDC's efforts to combat trade in conflict diamonds will be featured prominently on the website so that surfers will be able to remain updated on the latest developments.
The new website will not replace WDC's diamondfacts.org, which will continue to provide information to jewelry consumers regarding the benefits reaped by societies and economies that take part in diamond trading .
