The Diamond Exchange of Singapore (DES) has elected Suresh Hathiramani its new president for a term of two years at the bourse's Annual General Meeting on October 26. The DES outgoing president, Yee Heng Chiong, was appointed to the position of vice president.
The following members were elected to serve on the DES Executive Committee -
Honorary Secretary: Lim Kam Su,
Honorary Treasurer: Reuben Khafi,
Committee Members: Bhavik Mehta, Johnny Wham, Hemant Kothari, Wan Shung Ming, Kathy Ho and Roland Tan.
"Elections at the Diamond Exchange of Singapore are always important," said Hathiramani. "Our bourse is one of WFDB's smaller members, with a membership of about 60. However, we fulfill an important regional role."
"Our members and their companies are channels to a great many wholesalers, retailers and jewelers in the growing consumer markets that surround us in South East Asia. It is important that these markets are served by members of a bourse that is affiliated to the WFDB."
Hathiramani said the DES secretariat is currently in the process of signing up all DES members for the World Federation of Diamond Bourses Mark, the Mark of Excellence of the WFDB.
"With the WFDB Mark prominently displayed on our members' business papers, invoices, name cards, email stationary and websites, they have another promotional tool to advance their business."
