Rio Tinto's 2010 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender set new records, the company reported.
All 55 of the rare pink colored diamonds were sold to a variety of buyers from all over the world, including the emerging diamond markets of India and China.
Rio Tinto's General Manager for Sales and Marketing, Jean-Marc Lieberherr, issued a statement in which he said that the results of the tender were "a clear indication of the growing appreciation of the rarity and value of Argyle pink diamonds."
The diamond supplier said that one of the most coveted diamonds in the tender was the Argyle Mystra, a 2.02-carat round diamond with a color grade of Vivid Purplish Pink.
