In April, a new Jewelers Union was established in Russia in the city of Kostroma. The city’s mayor, Igor Slunyaev, helped to create the jewelry union with the aim of boosting the Russian jewelry industry.
The Union of Jewelers of Russia is a confederative union incorporating grass root organizations, jewelry manufacturers as well as wholesale & jewelry trade companies and individuals involved in the jewelry industry. The Union of Jewelers will reportedly serve as an umbrella association for all of the leading jewelry companies.
The Union was established in the course of a meeting of the leaders of the “Zolotoe Koltso of the Russia Guild,” the “Krasnoe–na–Volge Union of Jewelers,” the Jewelers Union of Russia’s northwest region, Jewelers of Tatarstan, the Russian Jewelry Trade Club, and jewelry company executives.
The Union of Jewelers will be supported by the mass media RusJewellerExpert marketing agency, the “Jewelry Russia” trade magazine, the "Jewelry Review" magazine, “The Best Adornments of Russia” and the www.rjexpert.ru website.
During the meeting, the Russian jewelry industry leaders emphasized the importance of establishing the union during the economic downturn and agreed to grant equal rights to all jewelry industry entities, including both small-scale and large-scale enterprises.
The www.rjexpert.ru website, which offers extensive information about the Russian jewelry industry in Russian and English, will provide reports about the Union’s activities.
