Report: Fake Cops Steal Over $100,000 of Rough Diamonds

A gang dressed as cops allegedly stole over $100,000 worth of rough diamonds from a courier in India, on Tuesday, the Times of India reports.
According to the Times, Prahlad Patel was traveling by bus from the Surat diamond industry hub to Amreli, carrying of 150 packets of rough diamonds which he was hired to leave in Amerli to be polished. Near the Navi Pardi village, a group of 10 people wearing police uniforms stopped the bus, boarded it, and asked Patel to step off.
They then reportedly threatened to report the courier for carrying "illegal material" and demanded he give them the diamonds.
One of the gang then allegedly slashed both of Patel's hands, while the others grabbed the diamonds and fled.
According to police, a person with a police record was involved in the diamond theft.
