Sarin has announced a new service for diamond manufacturers, which will enable them to accurately map all inclusions in almost any rough diamond within minutes. The existing methods usually take hours, if not days, to perform the complex task, and even then the results are highly dependent on the operator's skill. According to Sarin, its new Galaxy™ 1000 scanner takes only minutes to achieve results with no need for preprocessing of the rough stone.
.
Sarin claims that this development constitutes the first time in the history of the diamond industry that a scanner can accurately and automatically detect and map all inclusions quickly, regardless of their type, size, and location within the rough diamond, using a unique patent-pending technology.
Sarin stated that it expects the Galaxy™ 1000 to change not only diamond manufacturing, but also diamond trading, due to the fact that frosted and lightly coated rough diamonds, commonly traded speculatively due to their obscure internal structure, can now be fully mapped and demystified. No "windows" need to be polished on these diamonds to undergo Sarin's new scanning.
Uzi Levami, CEO of Sarin Technologies, stated: "We are proud to offer this new service in Israel and India, where diamond manufacturers have already been participating in the testing of our new scanner and have been excited by its results. Following Israel and India, we expect to gradually be offering these services in other diamond manufacturing centers worldwide."
Mr. Levami added: “We believe that offering inclusion mapping as a service to the diamond industry, especially during these times of credit limitations, has the potential of benefitting both the company and its customers: diamond manufacturers will be able to obtain this innovative service without committing to large investments in capital equipment.”
