Arachnids do not fit the famed Faberge jewelry house's "creative vision for elegance," Tatiana Zherebkina, a spokeswoman for the diamond company, said last week in response to widespread Internet rumors that the company would be releasing a spider-shaped gemstone brooch.

One site claimed that the spider brooch would be covered with "hundreds of thousands" of diamonds and gems, while others wondered if Faberge would be releasing a complete collection of spider jewelry.

While the rumor was at its height, "Faberge spider" climbed to #3 in Google's list of most-searched terms.
