US First Family Showered with $200,000 worth of Diamonds in 2009

The US State Department has reported that the US first family received some $200,000 worth of diamond gifts in 2009.
The wife of Turkey's president presented First Lady Michelle Obama with an 18 karat yellow gold necklace set with small diamonds and pearls, while the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia presented her with a set of diamond and ruby jewelry that included earrings, a ring, a bracelet, and a necklace valued at some $132,000.
Daughters Malia and Sasha Obama received two diamond jewelry sets – one featuring heart-shaped pieces and the second square-shaped pieces – each of which was worth over $3,500.
The First Lady of Ghana gave her the watch known as the Black Star of Ghana, made of diamonds set in 18 karat gold and worth $48,000.
