Petra Diamonds' mine revenue for the second half of 2010 (the six-month period ending December 31, 2010) was up 86% compared to H1 2010 at $90 million compared to $48.4 million, the diamond company announced Monday.
For the period reported, the company saw mining profits totaling $24.5 million, compared to $8 million in H1. Profit after tax was $24.5 million, down from H1, which saw profits totaling $37.9 million.
H2 diamond production was down (582,102 carats compared to 614,594 carats in H1) – a decrease attributable to the planned production halt at Petra's Williamson mine while expansion work is being carried out.
Petra raised $325 million in the second half, as well as acquiring De Beers' Finsch mine in South Africa for $210 million.
Petra CEO Johan Dippenaar also noted that the company had achieved "excellent prices" for its first diamond tender of the year.
