The Study on Electropolishing of WC-Co Cemented Carbide

Cemented Carbide is a new advanced manufacturing technology, which has been widely applied in the manufacturing industry of developed industrial country.However, in these aspects, systematic and comprehensive researches are quite scarce in China. But the superior rigidity of Cemented Carbide make tradition repair method hardness and produce great rudimental enlist, So we must be had a new method in this field.In order to take further steps to realize the spread and application of Cemented Carbide in our country, a series of experiments have been done. The electrolytes and additives which are chosen firstly are harmless to man, long-term efficacious and economical. And the special power of electroplishing is developed, viz. the current of rectangular wave is adopted. Additional, peak value,frequency and cycle numbers of current can be set conveniently as required. So,in the range of positive potential, Co and W are corroded, in the range zero potential, the carbon atoms are processed at weak negative potential produced by instantaneous current variation of power and conducting ions.In this base, The test conducted shows that peak value (current density),frequently and cycle numbers (conducive time of current have important influences on electropolishing quality. The importance their influences are in such sequence: current density → conductive time → current frequency So, if â…¤-â… characteristic curve, current waveform and corresponding to surface roughness are determine, the optimum electrolytic process parameter can be found.As a result,the spread and application of Cemented Carbide electropolishing are imperative.
