Diamond Weighing 11.96 Carats Recovered from Star Kimberlite

A rough diamond weighing 11.96 carats with a color grade of E has been recovered from the Star kimberlite, some 40 kilometers east of Prince Albert in Canada, the Shore Gold mining company has announced.
The stone has a current value stands at $179,325, or $15,000 per carat, and is expected to produce a polished diamond of over four carats.

Shore Gold also announced that it has completed a valuation of diamond parcels from the Star and Orion kimberlites that showed price increases that ranged from 28% to 130% higher than in March 2008. The new diamond valuation – conducted by the rough diamond valuation and consulting company WWW International Diamond Consultants – will be applied to the feasibility study on the diamond properties.
