Belgium's Polished Diamond Exports Jump 51%

Belgium's polished diamond exports for February 2011 totaled $1.32 billion, a 51% increase over the corresponding month of 2010.
Polished diamond imports for the month reported reached $885 billion, 33% higher than in February 2010, and putting the country's net polished exports at $432 million, compared to $212.3 million in the corresponding month last year.
Belgium also saw its rough diamond trade increase. Exports of rough diamonds for February 2011 stood at $1.14 billion, 26% higher than in February 2010, while rough imports were up 35% over last year at a total of $1.05 billion.
