Tiffany&Co has denied recent reports that it paid Oscar host Anne Hathaway $750,000 to wear Tiffany diamond jewelry at last Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony.
Hathaway wore Tiffany's 94-carat Lucida Star Diamond necklace, valued at $10 million; a five-carat platinum and diamond ring; and 10-carat diamond earrings. But both Tiffany Public Relations and Marketing Manager Michaela Langley told the National Jeweller that she was not aware that the actress had been paid to do so.
Langley was backed up by Tiffany's director of worldwide media relations, Carson Glover, who said that the US Weekly report that Hathaway had been paid to wear Tiffany jewely was "incorrect."
Natalie Portman, who won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Black Swan, also selected Tiffany jewelry for the event.
