Afri-Can Marine Minerals Corporation (Afri-Can) plans to start diamond sampling on the southern part of its EPL 3403 marine diamond concession this week, the Namibia Economist reports.
The sampling is expected to remove 250 five-square-meter samples over the course of 25-30 days.
Sampling already conducted at the concession has yielded over 14 carats of diamonds, 15% of which weighed more than one carat. Five samples contained multiple diamonds.
The 800-square-kilometer EPL 3403 concession is adjacent to Namdeb's Atlantic One Mining Lease 47, which is the largest marine diamond deposit in the world and produces 1.1 million carats annually.
