Israel's Sarin Technologies, which develops and manufactures mapping and production solutions for the diamond and gemstone industries, has shipped a Galaxy 1000 diamond scanning and mapping system and a Quazer II laser diamond sawing system to a service center in Windhoek for use by Namibia's rough diamond trade and diamond manufacturers.
The Windhoek service center is the fifth one to be established worldwide, with centers already up and running in Israel, India, Belgium, and Russia – where Sarin just sent another Galaxy 1000 system after training the Moscow center's personnel in Israel.
Sarin CEO Uzi Levami said that the new services would offer members of the Namibian diamond industry an "unprecedented view" into a diamond's internal features, allowing the company's Strategist and Quazer II tools to plan even the most challenging diamond sawing, maximizing profit for the diamond's owner.
Levami added that he expected to open additional diamond trade service centers in other locations in southern Africa.
