Diamdel reports strong competition in its second cycle of rough diamond auctions, during which 214 lots were made available between March 9-28.
The opportunity for more customers to buy more products at market determined prices attracted record levels of participation from registered businesses across all markets. 178 different businesses based in Belgium, Israel, India and Asia Pacific bid at these auctions, with 81 different companies winning lots. All lots were sold, and non-Sightholders secured 52% of the lots by value.
Neil Ventura, CEO of Diamdel commented, "Demand from buyers surged to new highs during March and this demand translated into strong spot sales across all major geographic markets, with record sales recorded to Israel and Indian based businesses. We continue to anticipate very strong demand from all customer segments in the near term."
Sales to small specialist buyers rose significantly, as did sales to larger businesses buying a diversified range of products. No single buyer won more than 15 lots (7%) from the 214 made available.
Competition to secure products across all categories remained strong, but was most notably intense in the Near Gem and Smalls categories.
