Zimbabwe, which in a controversial decision by Kimberley Process Chairman Mathieu Yamba was recently cleared to export diamonds from its Marange fields, will be sending representatives to the 2011 World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) Presidents' Meeting in Dubai, which is slated to take place from April 11-13.
This year's Presidents' Meeting features the WFDB African Summit, which will host a number of mining ministers from Africa's diamond producing nations, including Zimbabwe's Mines and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu; the Democratic Republic of Congo's Martin Kabwelulu Labilo; Susan Shabangu from South Africa and Angola's Joaquim Duarte da Costa David.
Yamba himself will be a guest of honor, and the issue of Marange diamonds is expected to take a prominent place on the agenda, which has yet to be published.
