Christie's auction house has confirmed reports that it will auction the late actress Elizabeth Taylor's renowned collection of diamond jewelry, as well as her artwork, clothing, and other memorabilia, news outlets report.
Taylor, who in 2003 published a book about her jewelry collection entitled Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry, owned the world's first diamond valued at $1 million, which was one of the many stellar pieces given to her by her fourth and fifth husband, Richard Burton.
The diamond jewelry to be auctioned (the date and the time of the sale have yet to be announced) includes the Taylor-Burton Diamond, which weighed over 240 carats in its rough form; a Bulgari diamond and emerald pendant; and the 17th-century Taj Mahal Diamond; as well as the 33.19-carat Krupp diamond ring, which Taylor wore almost daily as a memento of her and Burton's love.
