Vollmer has launched two new grinding machines for circular saw blade machining, as well as an automated polishing process for PCD tooling.

The machines will receive their world premiere at Ligna 2011, a German Machine Tool Exhibition that will take place in May.

At the Hanover Exhibition, Vollmer will be demonstrating its new grinding machine duo of the CP200 and CPF200, plus an automated polishing process for PCD cutting tips on the universal machine QXD200.

Further grinding and eroding machines, such as the QM eco select for machining PCD-tipped tools, have also been launched.

Vollmer has now developed its universal QXD200 machine for complex grinding and eroding processes, which will now offer an automated polishing process for PCD tips.

The oscillation polishing process is set up by automatic touch so that the PCD tip is only polished directly behind the cutting edge.

This application method considerably reduces the machining time and therefore saves production costs.

The new QXD200 will enable PCD cutters of consistent quality to be produced in unmanned and automatic mode in high quantities.

Another world premiere for Vollmer is the introduction of the CP 200 and CPF 200 grinding machines.

This duo is equipped with four CNC controlled grinding axes, multi-processor techniques and integrated software programs.

The CP 200 is especially apt for grinding chip and clearance surfaces of TCT circular saw blades of various diameters and tooth geometries, whereas the CPF 200 has been designed for precise side grinding.

Intuitive operating facilitates the quick and easy use of these machines in grinding shops.

The LCD display guides the operator graphically through the programs, while the application process of one tool runs operator free to create a program for yet another tool.

More than 4,000 programs can be stored in the machine.

Vollmer has also launched its QM eco select disc eroding machine, which has recently been equipped with individually selectable software packages.

This makes the machine especially attractive for start-up entrepreneurs.

PCD-tipped tools can be measured and eroded in one single clamping.

Five simultaneously controlled CNC axes facilitate precise machining and high surface quality on the QM eco select.
