Botswana Diamonds has launched a two to three-month diamond exploration program on its 8,000 square kilometer license in Cameroon designed to locate and measure the presence of diamondiferous kimberlites, the company announced last week.
The license is located next to the Mobilong diamond field, where a South Korean diamond venture recently made major diamond discoveries.
According to Botswana Diamonds Chairman John Teeling, little is known about the license, which is located in a remote rainforest area of Cameroon. Teeling described the exploration project as "early stage, big potential, high risk."
The company said that based on the little information it had in hand, the site's diamond deposits had eroded in certain places and now occurred as alluvial deposits.
