Wisco-Nippon Steel tinplate project approved

Wuhan Steel will establish a 50:50 tinplate join venture with Nippon Steel in Wuhan, Hubei at a cost of $293 million to take advantage of growing demand for beverage and food cans in China. The project, due to be completed in the summer of 2013, will be able to produce 200,000 tons of tinplate a year and will target mainly on China’s central and western regions.
