Just one day after translators and editors finished working on an Arabic translation of the IDC Rules, the International Diamond Council presented the first printed copy to Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the executive chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). The presentation took place at the concluding gala dinner of the 2011 Presidents' Meeting of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) that was held in the United Arab Emirates in April.
WFDB Treasurer Dieter Hahn, a founding member of IDC and an IDC officer since 1975, presented Bin Sulayem with the document, saying that IDC had given high priority to the translation. This was due, he said, to the significant growth seen in the Middle Eastern diamond and diamond jewelry market in recent years.
Currently, the IDC Rules available for downloading from the IDC website are the authoritative English version, and translations in Russian, Chinese, German and Arabic.
