The 2013 Presidents' Meeting of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) will take place in Toronto, Canada, IDMA President Moti Ganz announced today. He said that last month's IDMA's Presidents' Meeting in Gaborone, Botswana, demonstrated the advantages of holding the Presidents' Meeting in a diamond producing country.
"Diamond manufacturers need to have a full understanding of where the diamonds they purchase and process are mined," Ganz explained. "Presidents' meetings are perfect opportunities not only to discuss the particular issues and problems that concern our segment of the supply pipeline, but also to get to know the countries, mines, mining locations, governmental institutions and companies that are involved."
Ganz expressed the IDMA's thanks to Canadian Diamond Manufacturers' Association (CDMA) President Bhushan Vora CDMA CEO Pierre LeBlanc for offering to host the 2013 meeting.
Vora noted that Canada is the world's third-largest producer of gem-quality diamonds by value and added that the creation of the Diamond Bourse of Canada in 2010 "established the last missing link of the diamond pipeline in Canada" and said his organization was happy to host the 2013 IDMA Presidents' Meeting.
