U.S. industrial production level unchanged in April

U.S. industrial production was unchanged in April after posting an increase of 0.7 percent in March, the Federal Reserve reported on Tuesday.
The April figure of the nation's industrial production, an indicator of the output of mines, factories and utilities, was 5 percent above its year-earlier level.
Manufacturing output, the largest component of the overall industrial production, decreased 0.4 percent in April. Mining output rose 0.8 percent in April, while utilities output was up 1. 7 percent last month.
The report also revealed that overall industrial capacity utilization edged down 0.1 percentage point to 76.9 percent in April, 3.5 percentage points below its average from 1972 to 2010.
