India's polished diamond exports rise 5.53% in April

In April 2011, the total exports of gem and jewellery from India stood at US$ 3,215.73 million rising 4.48 percent y-o-y (US$ 3,077.76 million in April 2010). Within this, the exports of cut and polished diamonds in the said month rose 5.53 percent y-o-y to US$ 2,035.22 million (US$ 1,928.60 million in April 2010).
The provisional export of gold jewellery and gold medallions stood at US$ 1,023.96 million dipping by 0.43 percent (US$ 1,028.38 million in April 2010). Also, provisional export of silver jewellery was worth US$ 40.33 million rising 34.57 percent (US$ 29.97 million in April 2010). Coloured gemstone exports valued US$ 16.60 million, with a 51.18 percent growth y-o-y (US$ 10.98 million in April 2010).
