Japan's unemployment rate rises to 4.7% in April

The unemployment rate in Japan rose to a seasonally adjusted 4.7 percent in April from 4.6 percent in the previous month, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said in a report on Tuesday.
The jobless rate in the recording period was in line with median economists expectations and figuratively the number of unemployed persons in April stood at 3.09 million, a decrease of 300,000 from the previous year.
Separately, data released Tuesday from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare showed that the availability of jobs dropped in March, with the ratio of job offers to job seekers coming in at 61 percent, or 61 available jobs for every 100 people looking for work.
