Arjav Diamonds, which is currently running Surat's first online rough diamond auction, has used Sarin Technologies' Galaxy 1000 inclusion mapping system to chart data on a number of the lots up for sale and is providing the information along with the diamonds, Sarin reports.



The Surat-based company acquired the Galaxy 1000 in August 2010 specifically to analyze the diamonds that are being auctioned this week. Arjav Diamonds CEO Ashit Mehta said that his company was confident that the data would aid potential customers in making "more educated bids" on the lots of diamonds on offer.



"We intend to offer [this] data whenever possible in our effort to add transparency to the bidding process," Mehta continued, adding that he believed the auction would help bring Galaxy technology to India's smaller diamond manufacturers.
