The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is set to crank its election machinery into full gear this weekend, as it looks towards the general elections.
The general elections are constitutionally due next year.
Senator Aundre Franklin, general secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), said the party will be holding high level closed door meetings in Kingston and Ocho Rios, St. Ann this weekend.
Tomorrow, the party will hold its second quarterly meeting with divisional chairpersons and affiliates at the Jamaica Conference Centre beginning at 10 am.
Divisional chairpersons consist of Councillors and Councillor Caretakers.
On Sunday the party’s Central Executive will meet at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios at 10 am.
The JLP’s Central Executive is the highest decision making body of the party, outside of the annual conference.
Senator Franklin says new constituency caretakers will be presented and endorsed as the party moves to complete its slate of candidates for the general election next year.
Campaign finance reform and issues related to election readiness are also on the agenda.
JLP leader, Bruce Golding, is also slated to address both meetings.
It is expected that at tomorrow’s meeting he will also address issues related to the damage caused by the recent heavy rains.
