Surat's first-ever online rough diamond auction has brought in a total of $12.5 million, diamond industry news outlets reports.



The auction – organized by Arjav Diamonds, a DTC sightholder subsidiary – sold 46 of the 60 lots of diamonds on offer. A total of 3,664.27 carats of rough product were purchased at an average per-carat price of $3,411.32.



In addition to parcels of rough diamonds, two major stones – the 61-carat Star of Gujarat and the 74.70-carat Star of Surat – were also auctioned.
