With the consolidation of rare earth industry going on, the price of some rare earths doubled in the recent month (from May 15 to June 15).
China plans to consolidate 80 percent of industrial rare-earth production among the three biggest companies in the sector during the next one to two years, the State Council said in a statement in May.
China produces more than 95 percent of the world's rare earths, and the United States and Australia have responded by developing or reopening mines shuttered when cheaper Chinese supplies became available.
